Fleetwood Mac Complete Timeline (1967–2026)
Few bands in music history have experienced the level of success, chaos, reinvention, and longevity that Fleetwood Mac achieved.
From their beginnings as a British blues band in 1967 to becoming one of the biggest rock acts in the world, Fleetwood Mac’s story includes legendary albums, iconic songs, relationship breakdowns, lineup changes, reunions, and cultural rebirths that continue to influence generations.
Below is the complete Fleetwood Mac timeline from 1967 to 2026, covering every major era of the band’s history.
1967 — Fleetwood Mac Is Born
Fleetwood Mac was formed in London, England in 1967 by:

Mick Fleetwood
John McVie
Jeremy Spencer
The band emerged from the British blues scene after Peter Green left John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers.
The name “Fleetwood Mac” came from drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie.
At this stage, Fleetwood Mac was a straight blues band heavily influenced by American blues artists.
1968 — Early Success
Fleetwood Mac released their debut album:
Fleetwood Mac (1968)
The album performed strongly in the UK blues scene.
The instrumental single Albatross became a major hit and reached number one in the UK charts.
Fleetwood Mac quickly established themselves as one of Britain’s leading blues-rock bands.
1969 — International Attention Grows

Peter Green emerged as one of the most respected guitarists in the world.
Songs like:

Man of the World

His departure created uncertainty about the future of the band.
However, Fleetwood Mac continued forward rather than disbanding.
This decision would ultimately shape rock history.
1970 — Christine McVie Joins the Band
Christine Perfect, later known as Christine McVie, officially joined Fleetwood Mac.
Her melodic songwriting and keyboard work added a completely new dimension to the group’s sound.
